Joao Carvalho left Nottingham Forest in the summer after enduring a turbulent time at the City Ground.
The midfielder joined Forest from Benfica in 2018, arriving for a club-record fee of £13.2million after establishing himself as a real talent over in Portugal.
Despite impressing under Aitor Karanka, Carvalho’s game time decreased under Martin O’Neill, and an injury last pre-season resulted in him playing catch-up under Sabri Lamouchi.
Warburton? Karanka? Who was the Nottingham Forest manager when each of these 15 Forest moments happened?
In September, Carvalho departed the City Ground and joined UD Almeria on a season-long loan deal, with the Spanish side having an option to buy.
Since joining Almeria, Carvalho has been one of their most creative players going forward and is playing some of his best football.
The midfielder has only produced one assist and is yet to score for the club, but he has created a number of chances for his teammates.
Carvalho hasn’t been named in the squad for Almeria’s last three games, though, with talk of him picking up an injury in the 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.
After failing to create chances from midfield themselves this season, plenty of Forest fans have been discussing Carvalho’s departure, and what sort of impact he could have had on Chris Hughton’s side at the moment.
The fact is, even if Carvalho does perform well for Almeria, it would be no good for the Reds, especially with Almeria having an option to buy.
