Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly keen on replacing manager Jos Luhukay with former Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce.

The Owls are in turmoil having won just one of their last nine league games, and sit 17th in the Sky Bet Championship table, just six points off the relegation zone.

A large majority of the Hillsborough faithful are losing or have lost patience with Luhukay, and it seems that the Wednesday board are already plotting a Plan B, with reports claiming that Bruce could be in line to replace the Dutchman.

Bruce has been without a job since the start of October, after being sacked by Aston Villa after just three wins from the first eleven games of the season, but could be the man to steer the ship at Hillsborough.

Here, we take a look at three things that Bruce would bring to Wednesday if he joined...

Without thinking about the long-term just yet, Wednesday need results, and fast, and that is something that Bruce is likely to provide.

After Roberto Di Matteo was sacked by Villa back in October 2016, Bruce arrived at Villa Park and made an instant impact, going unbeaten in his first seven games and losing just two of his next thirteen games.

The Owls need lifting, and Bruce has already proven himself to be a man who can go in and provide short-term success.

In terms of the long run, Bruce has been successful at this level on more than one occasion.

He's been promoted four times as a manager - twice with Birmingham City and twice with Hull City, and was also desperately close to making it five promotions, where Villa lost in the playoff final last season to Fulham.

His time at Villa may have turned sour in the latter stages before his departure, but no-one can say that he isn't one of the better managers in terms of success at this level.

Wednesday's last two managers, Carlos Carvalhal and Jos Luhukay both lacked one trait, and that was experience in England.

Bruce, on the other hand, knows the league inside out - having managed for nearly 20 years, he knows what it takes to win games at all costs, and that can only be beneficial for Wednesday in the short-term.
