Nottingham Forest are set to face a crucial summer transfer window when they will be aiming to build on the progress that has been made over recent months under Chris Hughton.

The Reds have managed to pull themselves away from any immediate relegation trouble and that means that their focus can switch towards planning for the squad they want to build for next term.

Hughton has recently already revealed that Forest’s recruitment plans are already underway for the summer. While he also admitted that the focus is also on ensuring the futures of some out-of-contract players and loanees.

According to Record, one player who is already starting to attract the attentions of clubs elsewhere is defender Yuri Ribeiro. The left-back has reportedly been subject to several approaches from different clubs who are interested in taking him once his current deal expires at the City Ground.

The same report from Record also outlines that a return Portugal could be a potential destination for the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window. Ribeiro is also thought to be eyeing up a move to somewhere where he can play top-flight football after two years in the Championship with the Reds.

There were reports during the summer transfer window that the defender was a target for Greek side Olympiacos, but eventually, he remained at the City Ground despite starting the campaign out of favour.

Hughton has shown some faith in the defender since taking over the Ribeiro has been battling Gaetan Bong for regular minutes down the left-hand side of the Reds’ defence. Having registered three assists in 27 Championship appearances last term (Sofascore), the 24-year-old has made 21 appearances so far this campaign (Sofascore).

The left-back will likely face a real tough choice in the summer over where he wants to be playing. The Reds are going to need to act swiftly if they are going to be able to secure a new deal for him. That though will come down to whether Hughton believes he is one of the out-of-contract players that is worth keeping around at the City Ground.
