Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell remains on the books at Carrow Road, but his career in East Anglia remains a somewhat sore topic.

Daniel Farke included Cantwell in his first two starting line-ups of the Championship season, but the 22-year-old hasn’t featured in the last two matchday squads.

Speculation has began bubbling away surrounding the midfielder, with Leeds United mentioned as a potential destination.

What’s the latest?

Football Insider reported to the back end of last month that Leeds had made a £15m bid for Cantwell. Whether that’s on the money or not is up for debate, but it’s coincided with the midfielder dropping out of the side.

Leeds have been after a midfielder for a lot of the window, but their focus was on the European market.

Players similar to Cantwell were linked and, just last week, the Whites were on the verge of doing a deal for Michael Cuisance at Bayern Munich.

That deal collapsed and as the 11pm deadline passed for European arrivals last night, Leeds hadn’t got a midfielder deal over the line.

Had Cuisance signed, it would’ve been game over for Leeds in their Cantwell pursuit. However, there’s still a chance things can kick off again in the coming 10 days.

If Marcelo Bielsa believes he’s short of a midfielder, Leeds could well make a move for Cantwell if previous links prove to be on the money.

They’ve backed the Argentine all summer and it would make no sense to let him down at the death.

Cantwell to Leeds developments certainly feel like they’re worth watching.
