Valerien Ismael has started to stamp his authority around the Hawthorns now having had time to get settled into life at West Brom but there remains a few key issues that he needs to address.

The most poignant issue at the moment for the Baggies is around the long-term future of star-man Matheus Pereira.

Almost inevitably after firing home an impressive tally of 11 goals and six assists last term in the Premier League, the Brazilian has been attracting a lot of transfer interest throughout the summer window but as of yet no resolution to his situation has been found.

It has been widely reported that there are a number of Premier League sides that are interested in taking Pereira back into the top-flight next term.

While there has also been one or two reports indicating that clubs from outside of England and even Europe are circling for the 25-year-old.

Recent reports from the Daily Express reporter Ryan Taylor had indicated that West Ham have firmed up their interest in Pereira and have even held some talks over the possibility of bringing him into the club this summer.

While ESPN Brazil have outlined that Leeds United are also interested in Pereira this summer and that the Brazilian would potentially be keen to make that move if it becomes an option.

That comes despite that report having indicated that the 25-year-old’s preference is to play in European club competition next term.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, West Ham have now submitted an offer to West Brom for Pereira which was thought to have been worth around £12.7 million. However, that has been rejected by the Baggies who are wanting nearer the £21 million mark.

Leicester City are also thought to be interested in Pereira and it is thought that they could not be far behind West Ham in making an offer for the play marker this summer.

As if matters were not complicated enough for the Baggies, reports have also emerged from ESPN reporter Joao Castelo-Branco that Al-Hilal have also submitted an offer for the 25-year-old. That is thought to have been worth around €15 million  (£12.8 million).

Pereira is believed to be considering the financial offer that has been put to him by Al-Hilal despite preferring a move back to the Premier League.

Al Hilal are not the only club outside of England to have been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old. ESPN Brazil have reported that Eintracht Frankfurt could also be keen on sorting out a deal with West Brom for the playmaker.

Both the Baggies and Pereira then have a lot of things to consider regarding his potential future over the coming days and weeks.

It remains to be seen whether anyone will match West Brom’s valuation and also what the 25-year-old’s preference would be in terms of a move to a specific club.
