What is the latest with Lee Buchanan amid transfer links to Arsenal and West Ham?

Derby County left back Lee Buchanan is wanted by both West Ham United and Arsenal this summer, with the 20-year-old having impressed heavily for the Rams despite their many shortcomings this season.

As previously revealed in an exclusive by Football League World, the Hammers were the first club to register an interest in the County academy product this term and are seemingly intent on making a move for the player this summer, whilst they have also be monitoring his teammate at Derby, Louie Sibley.

Meanwhile, as reported by Mail Online, the Gunners have also registered their interest in the young prospect as they look to add to their options on the left hand side of the backline under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.

The player himself has been with the Rams for the entirety of his first team career to date and only made his debut at senior level back in the 2019/20 campaign.

Quiz: Did these 18 players make more than 100 Derby County appearances?

Did Richard Keogh make more than 100 appearances for Derby County?

This has been what could be described as his real breakthrough season as he has been handed 37 appearances by Wayne Rooney, thus becoming a key member of the current squad despite his tender years.

With just one year remaining on his current contract at Pride Park, Derby could well be forced into selling Buchanan this summer as they deal with various financial issues off the field, whilst also looking to avoid losing the defender for absolutely nothing if he refuses to sign a new deal.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the young full back and it’s fair to say that his reputation is growing by the week.
