Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean has emerged as a transfer target for Scottish giants Rangers ahead of the January transfer window.

The Scottish Sun broke the news over the weekend, although it remains to be seen as to whether a formal bid has been made by Steven Gerrard's side.

McLean has made eight appearances in all competitions for the Canaries this term, as they look to make a swift return to the Premier League, following their relegation from the top-fight last season.

Norwich have made a strong start to this year's campaign as well, with Daniel Farke's side putting in a number of impressive performances, as they sit third in the Championship table.

It appears as though McLean's performances haven't gone unnoticed though, with Rangers keen on a deal to sign the Scottish midfielder in the New Year.

The Gers had previously been interested in a deal to sign McLean during the summer transfer window, but Daniel Farke was reluctant to cash-in on the midfielder ahead of the 2020/21 season.

A bid is yet to be made, although Steven Gerrard's side are weighing up a permanent move in instalments, or a potential loan swoop, which would then lead to a permanent move in the summer of 2021.

McLean is contracted with Norwich until 2023, and it remains to be seen as to whether the Daniel Farke's stance on the midfielder has changed since the summer, as the Scotsman hasn't been consistently in the Canaries' starting XI.

The Canaries are set to return to action this weekend when they take on Middlesbrough, in what is likely to be a tough test against Neil Warnock's side at the Riverside.
