The deadline for international signings may have passed but West Bromwich Albion's pursuit of Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant is far from over.

The Baggies have until the 16th of October to make signings from the EFL and Grant is understood to be at the very top of their list.

The 23-year-old, who fired in 19 goals last term, has been linked the Premier League new boys throughout the window and has remained absent from Carlos Corberan's squads through the first few weeks of the season.

Previous reports have indicated that the finances and structure of the deal were proving a stumbling block in ongoing talks, with the Terriers wanting £16 million to £18 million for the striker.

It is understood that West Brom had suggested a loan first deal that would see them pay a £5 million loan fee up front and then £13 million to sign Grant permanently next summer, as long as they remain in the Premier League.

A deal is yet to materialise but the latest update from the Express & Star has indicated that the two clubs are yet to come to an agreement over how the deal will be structured but there is a feeling that it is likely to be done.

The report claims that Albion are eager to get a deal done sooner rather than later as Slaven Bilic wants as much time to work with Grant as possible with the striker not playing since last season.

They still have 10 days to get a deal done but with Hal Robson Kanu facing time on the sidelines with a broken arm, you feel the Baggies may be set to ramp up their pursuit.
