Over the course of recent transfer windows, Sheffield Wednesday Josh Windass looked to be a man in demand.

Following the Owls' relegation from the Championship at the end of last season, a number of clubs have seemingly been keen on securing the services of the attacking midfielder.

Among those who are interested in signing the 27-year-old are Middlesbrough and West Brom, as exclusively revealed by Football League World.

With Windass having scored nine goals and provided five assists in Championship appearances for a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side last season, he could certainly be a useful addition for those sides who are now chasing promotin from the second-tier in the current campaign.

However, it seems that while that may be the case, it will not be easy for those teams to secure the services of the attacking midfielder this month.

Speaking in the lead up to the January window, Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore insisted that there is no transfer in the pipline for Windass, and that his recent absence from the Owls' side is injury related.

Indeed, with Windass having only signed a new contract with Wednesday in the summer, a deal which has secured his future at Hillsborough until the end of the 2022/23 season, the Owls are under little pressure to sell the 27-year-old at any point in the coming weeks.

It seems therefore, that appealing as a move may be for some of those linked clubs, a deal any time soon does appeal unlikely.

Given Windass has scored twice and provided one assist in just three league games during an injury hit campaign so far this season, that will be a big relief for those of a Sheffield Wednesday persuasion, providing they can get him fit.
