What is the latest with Jordan Gabriel’s situation at Blackpool amid Burnley links?

Blackpool’s Jordan Gabriel has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The winger has reportedly attracted interest from Championship-bound Burnley, who suffered relegation from the top flight last season.

It has been suggested by Alan Nixon that new Clarets’ boss Vincent Kompany is keen to bring the 23-year old to Turf Moor as part of his rebuild at the club.

The Blackpool player impressed last season, making 21 league appearances in Neil Critchley’s side as the team finished 16th in the table.

Gabriel has only been with the Tangerines permanently since the last summer transfer window when he arrived from Nottingham Forest at the end of August.

But his performances have caught the eye of those at Burnley and he is now seen as a potential successor to Matt Lowton.

With Connor Roberts potentially set to leave the club this summer, that would open up the place in the team for Gabriel.

Lowton is set to miss the start of the campaign due to suspension and the 33-year old is the club’s only real option at right back if the Welsh international does depart.

Gabriel could be seen as a possible long-term replacement for the veteran, who is coming into the final years of his career at this stage.

This transfer may yet all depend on the domino effect of Roberts exiting Burnley before the club actually acts on their transfer interest for Gabriel.

Roberts is may be targeting a return to top flight action, with it still unclear as to where he will play his football next season.
