What is the latest with Gustavo Hamer’s situation at Coventry City as Fulham links emerge?

Coventry City had a bright campaign in 2021/22.

For the vast majority of the season, Mark Robins’ Sky Blues were challenging for a place in the Championship play-offs.

In the end, their bid for a spot in the top six fell away, ultimately ending the campaign in 12th place.

Nevertheless, there were plenty of positives to take from the campaign – one of which was the continued development of star midfielder Gustavo Hamer.

Hamer made 39 second-tier outings for the club, scoring three goals and registering an impressive ten assists.

Those fine displays have alerted Premier League clubs to his ability, with Fulham the latest in a string of top-flight clubs credited with a transfer interest in the 24-year-old.

With that being said, here are the latest developments regarding Hamer’s future.

What is the latest?

It appears that Marco Silva’s side’s interest in Hamer is very real this summer.

It was revealed last month that Hamer was attracting interest from the West London club, and now, in the latest developments, claims have been made regarding the sort of fee it would take to sign the player.

That claim came from Alan Nixon via Patreon, who reported that the Dutchman would cost Marco Silva’s side ‘over £10 million’ if they wanted him this window.

That update came after Mark Robins last week discussed the speculation.

The Sky Blues boss told CoventryLive: “You know we are a team that develops people to try and move us forward but also for their careers and other teams that may have more clout, and they may get up the ladder a little bit quicker and then we have decisions to make.”

“But at the moment there are no decisions to make and nothing to talk about, other than, yes, there will be interest and continued interest in our players that we should be happy about.”

With Hamer having recently signed a new Coventry City deal that sees him tied to the club until 2024, Coventry are in a decent position to fend off any interest this summer unless a colossal offer arrives.
