Whilst Fernando Forestieri is most fondly remembered in England for his time with Sheffield Wednesday, the former Italian Under-21 international enjoyed three successful seasons at Watford.

Having joined the Hornets as a fresh-faced 22-year-old with little experience in senior football, it took Forestieri less than five months to convince the Vicarage Road hierarchy that he was worthy enough of a permanent contract, following a impressive initial loan spell - scoring three times.

Forestieri's next campaign with Watford would prove his most productive in terms of goalscoring exploits - netting eight times in the Championship, and despite an injury-hit season 12 months later reducing him to just 26 appearances in all competitions, he played a key part in the Hornets returning to the Premier League after an eight-year absence.

However, the Italian ended up missing the majority of the final weeks, although he did feature in their crucial win at Brighton which confirmed their promotion - although it turned out to be his last league outing in a Watford shirt.

That's because, a League Cup first-round tie at Preston later and Forestieri was sold to Sheffield Wednesday, shattering his topflight dream.

But Forestieri's Championship form showed no signs of letting up at Hillsborough, scoring an impressive 40 goals in more than 100 Owls appearances, and although he wasn't able to help Wednesday end their very own wait for Premier League football - playing in two unsuccessful play-off campaigns - he was a firm fans favourite with the Wednesdayite's.

Following five outstanding seasons in Sheffield, he returned home to Italy in the summer, re-joining Udinese, seven years after he left them for Watford.

Forestieri failed to score in his opening five appearances, but finally netted in Udinese's Coppa Italia win against Vicenza last month, before getting himself on the scoresheet once again in Sunday's impressive victory over Lazio -  his first Serie A goal since January 2008, and second in nine games in all competitions since leaving Wednesday.

Whilst Forestieri never got his chance to play in the Premier League, he certainly left his mark on English footballs second-tier, that's for sure.
