Brentford could be set to make another big-money sale this year as Arsenal are keeping tabs on free-scoring striker Ivan Toney, per the Express.
After a prolific spell at Peterborough United, Toney made the move to West London this past summer for an initial £5 million fee that could double if conditions are met.
The 24-year-old was brought in to replace the goals of Ollie Watkins, who moved on to Aston Villa for £28 million, and with 16 goals in 22 league games this season he’s doing just that.
It’s no surprise to see that there is interest from the top tier, but it’s perhaps a little shock to see the Gunners thrown into the mix.
West Ham United – who need another striker following Sebastien Haller’s departure to Ajax – are also said to be in the hunt for Toney, but what is the latest news on Toney’s future at the Brentford Community Stadium?

As it stands, it doesn’t look as though Toney will be going anywhere in the transfer window with just two weeks to run.
The report from the Express states that Mikel Arteta does not have much to work with this month in terms of a transfer budget, and that in itself would price the Spaniard out of a move for the prolific Championship striker.
Instead, Arteta’s team will continue to monitor Toney’s form going into the summer, where he may end up a Premier League player with his current club as they sit in fourth place in the Championship.
Of course though it may not matter where the Bees are next season, as Toney’s head may be turned from interest by an infinitely bigger club.
Arsenal’s league position may not show it, but they’re still one of the world’s largest teams in terms of value and pulling power and if they want Toney at the end of this season, they’ll probably get him.
But Brentford fans need not to worry for now – owner Matthew Benham always holds out for the right price for his stars and with a ‘not for sale’ sign placed around the neck of Toney, he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
