Arsenal are said to be eyeing a move for Newcastle United's young goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, with Football London reporting that the Swansea City loanee is on the club's shortlist this month as the seek to sign a new keeper.

Woodman has been in fine form for the Swans this term in what is his second successive loan spell with the Championship outfit and has kept 14 clean sheets to date for Steve Cooper's side.

Naturally the 23-year-old's fine form has attracted interest from elsewhere, with the Gunners now said to be lining up a move for the England youth international, with the North London side said to have been tracking the young shot stopper since the end of last season.

He would count towards the Premier League side's homegrown quota and would offer a good long-term back up option for their first choice option in goal, Bernd Leno.

Quiz: Have any of these 22 players ever been in Swansea City’s academy?

It is yet to be determined as to whether the club will be making a move for the player this month, perhaps suggesting that a summer move is more likely with Woodman seemingly well settled at Swansea.

Newcastle would be expected to demand a substantial fee for a player whose stock has risen tremendously since making the temporary move to Wales, whilst Woodman is also under contract at St. James Park until the summer of 2023.

From a Swansea perspective, the loss of Woodman would be tough to take due to his fine form for them this season, although they will now be well compensated after they recently signed Ben Hamer from Huddersfield Town, adding to the goalkeeping options of Steven Benda and Woodman at present.
