Preston North End are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as Ryan Lowe gets his teeth truly stuck into the squad at Deepdale.

Lowe did the best with the tools available to him last season in the Championship and, come the end of the campaign, there was a buzz about the new North End boss and the direction he could take the club in.

Yet, this is going to be an important summer for Preston if they are to compete at the right end of the Championship table in the next 12 months.

There's plenty going on at the midpoint of June, too, which we explore here:

Matt Ingram

It's been reported by Football Insider this summer that Ingram was a target of Preston's as they aim to add a new goalkeeper to their ranks.

However, Ingram has committed his long-term future to Hull City with a new three-year contract in East Yorkshire, seemingly ending speculation of a move to Deepdale.

Sepp van den Berg

Van den Berg has been a hugely popular loan addition at Deepdale over the last 18 months, with the Liverpool defender making easy work of the Championship.

Another loan away from Anfield beckons, although recent reports from Lancashire Live suggest that it will not a third move to Preston for the Dutchman.

Cameron Archer

Archer struck seven goals for Preston last season after arriving on loan from Aston Villa. Unsurprisingly, Lowe wants to bring the England U21 international back to Deepdale next season.

However, as the days tick by, there appears to be more and more interested parties in the young striker.

Rangers, Watford, West Brom and Queens Park Rangers have all been linked with a move for Archer, potentially derailing North End's attempts to reunite.

Woodman medical scheduled

As per a report from Chronicle Live, Woodman will undergo a medical with Preston next week ahead of a move from Newcastle United.

After seemingly missing out on Ingram, Woodman is a good reaction and lands Lowe a very exciting option in goal heading into the new season.

In the coming days, you'd expect there to be further updates as a deal seemingly nears completion.

Xavi Quintilla

Quintilla remains a player heavily linked with a move to Preston this summer.

He's on the books with Villarreal and impressed with Norwich City previously in the Championship.

Yet, there are work permit issues to contend with.

Football League World explored exactly where a deal was earlier in the week, which you can find here.
