Blackpool are currently without a manager going into pre-season preparations.

Neil Critchley unexpectedly walked away from the role in favour of becoming Steven Gerrard’s new assistant manager at Aston Villa.

This has left the Tangerines scrambling to find a replacement in time for the first team squad’s return to training later this summer.

Here we look at the transfer news and gossip surrounding the club as the transfer window rages on…

Jordan Gabriel’s exit

The full back has been linked with a move to Burnley after only 12 months at Bloomfield Road.

It has been a successful season for the 23-year old, who has impressed during his 21 appearances in the Championship for the Tangerines.

Burnley see Gabriel as a potential successor to Matt Lowton, should Connor Roberts depart this summer.

Any deal may depend on the future of Roberts, but Burnley certainly have the former Nottingham Forest player on their radar this transfer window.

No appointment decision made yet

A decision was expected on the club’s next manager, with Derby County assistant Liam Rosenior being linked with the vacant position.

However, it has now been reported that no announcement is imminent.

While Rosnior has been most heavily rumoured to be the new boss, it is now being reported that no decision has yet been made on Critchley’s successor.

With pre-season training set to commence later this month, Blackpool will want to have someone in place by then.

However, the club is not any closer to announcing a decision than they were last week.

Charlie Kirk’s future

The Charlton Athletic player spent the campaign on loan with Blackpool last season.

As part of that agreement, the Seasiders hold a clause to make the move permanent.

However, the Addicks’ owner has spoken publicly over the lack of movement on the transfer, suggesting Blackpool will not match the originally agreed fee for Kirk.

Whether the teams can yet still come to an agreement remains to be seen, but it appears that any decision is not imminent.
