Sheffield Wednesday have recently been linked with a move for former Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa according to Football Insider.

Musa is currently a free-agent after being released by Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in October, after making 57 appearances for the club.

The Nigerian international has previously been on the books with Leicester City, but struggled to make a notable impact at the King Power Stadium.

He made 33 appearances for the Foxes in total, but only scored five goals in his time with the Premier League side, before departing in August 2018.

But he could be set to return to English football for another shot, with Sheffield Wednesday reportedly keeping an eye on his situation.

Tony Pulis' side are currently sat 23rd in the second-tier standings, and will be hoping they can add to their attacking options in the near future, with the club recently being hit with a frustrating injury blow.

Jack Marriott is the player that has been ruled out of action for the foreseeable future, with the on-loan Derby County forward returning to his parent club to continue his recovery from injury.

This has seen the Owls waste no time in looking to find an adequate replacement for the remainder of this year's campaign, with Musa being lined up as a potential target heading towards the festive period.

Musa has since revealed to BBC Africa that there isn't any truth in the rumour that he could join Sheffield Wednesday, and is keen to play at a high level in Europe instead.

"I don't know where the story [potential move to Sheffield] is coming from because I don't pay attention to rumours and gossip.

"With due respect to the club, I left Saudi Arabia to continue my career at the top level in Europe and that's the ambition."

Clubs in the Championship are still able to work on deals to sign free-agents outside of the transfer window, and it seems as though Musa was a target for Sheffield Wednesday, although no official offer has been made yet to try and secure a deal.

Sheffield Wednesday are set to return to action at Hillsborough this weekend, when they prepare to take on play-off chasing Stoke City.
