What is the latest news with QPR’s search for a new manager?

Mark Warburton has departed as QPR manager following the conclusion of the latest Championship season.

The 59-year old had been with the club since 2019 but has not had his contract renewed at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

His tenure ended with a 1-0 win away to Swansea City which meant his side finished 11th in the table, nine points adrift of a play-off place.

As the club now looks for a new manager, there are various reports linking multiple people with the vacancy.

Wycombe Wanderers’ Gareth Ainsworth has claimed any reports suggesting he would switch to the London club are flattering but that he is focused on the task at hand, with his side competing in the League One play-offs.

The side that Wycombe defeated in the semi-finals of those play-offs, MK Dons, have also seen their manager linked with the post.

According to Talksport’s Alex Crook, Liam Manning is being considered as an option to replace Warburton.

The Dons finished 3rd in the table and narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to the Championship, but suffered defeat to Ainsworth’s side over two legs.

That may make the move to QPR more attractive for Manning, if approached, but there has been no concrete conversations between the manager and the club so far.

Peter Crouch?

James Rowberry was another name linked with the job, with Football Insider reporting that the Newport County boss is a top contender for the position.

This comes at a time when QPR sources are suggesting a head coach will be appointed, as opposed to a manager, with Rowberry’s high reputation in that respect earning him a chance at the Loftus Road gig.

Tim Sherwood has also had their names linked with the role in the past, but there have been no current suggestions that either are being considered as Warburton’s replacement as of yet.
