Mark Warburton signed off as QPR manager with a 1-0 win away at Swansea City on the final day of the Championship season.

The R's late-season slump cost them a play-off place and Warburton his job, with the west London club now searching for his replacement as the off-season begins.

talkSPORT's Alex Crook reported at the start of the month that Liam Manning is a target after his impressive debut season at MK Dons – replacing Russell Martin after the 2021/22 campaign had begun and only missing out on automatic promotion by one point.

Manning previously indicated his full focus was on his side's promotion push but we could see some movement after they were knocked out of the play-offs by Wycome yesterday.

That result could prove good news for the R's as it may be easier to prize the former West Ham United coach away as his side won't be playing in the Championship next season.

The MK Dons boss is said to be on Watford's list of managerial targets as well.

Newport County boss James Rowberry is another to be linked but has dismissed it as "speculation" and suggested his focus is on the League Two club ahead of his first summer at the helm.

Appointments from within have become regular occurrences in the EFL in recent years and R's assistant John Eustace would appear to be a good fit.

Eustace was labelled "unbelievable" by Warburton earlier this month but, according to the Daily Mail, he is in talks with Watford over replacing Roy Hodgson ahead of their return to the Championship.

Tim Sherwood was linked with a return to the west London club as a replacement for Warburton when his job was under threat in January but there have been no recent suggestions that he is a target.
