This is a crucial summer in the long-term future of Emiliano Marcondes and he must make the move to the right club where he can show his potential on a consistent basis.

Marcondes is available to be snapped on a free transfer this summer after his contract expired with the Bees and the decision was made for him to be allowed to leave the club following their promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

The 26-year-old played an important role in helping Brentford make it to the Championship play-off final last season and he managed to register two goals and provide three assists in his 34 appearances in the English second tier.

That included him managing to fire in the Bees’ second goal in their play-off final victory against Swansea City at Wembley.

A player of the 26-year-old’s quality being available on a free was always likely to attract plenty of potential transfer interest heading into the summer window.

The attacking midfielder had been linked with a potential move to the likes of Nottingham Forest, QPR and Norwich City ahead of the January transfer window with him heading into the final six months of his deal with Brentford. In the end though, he remained with the Bees until the end of the campaign.

It has recently been reported by Football Insider that Nottingham Forest have reignited their interest in the attacking midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window. It was believed that the Reds are prepared to submit a contract offer to the 26-year-old to persuade him to make the move to the City Ground.

However, the same report from Football Insider outlined that Barnsley are also ready to rival Nottingham Forest in their interest in Marcondes this summer. It is believed that the Tykes are also keen on making a contract offer to the attacking midfielder to bring him to Oakwell.

The latest report from Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that Valerien Ismael’s side are in talks with Marcondes over a potential move to Barnsley this summer.

That suggests that they are at the moment best placed to secure the signing of the 26-year-old, although that could change if Forest or other interested parties also look to open talks with him.

There is still some way to go before Barnsley manage to secure Marcondes’ potential signature this summer, but the latest reports suggest that they are looking the most likely side for him to move to at this stage.
