West Brom remain on the lookout for a new manager, with former player Derek McInnes one of the potential candidates to take over.

In truth, Albion's attempts to find Sam Allardyce's successor have been bordering on farcical, with owner Guochuan Lai blocking Chris Wilder's appointment after he was recommended by the board, which played a part in technical and sporting director Luke Dowling leaving the club.

As well as that, David Wagner appeared nailed on for the job before turning it down late on, which means the Baggies are back to square one.

Therefore, Lai and Xu Ke will be tasked with making the appointment and it has been previously reported that they would prefer to go for a boss who is out of work.

That boosts McInnes' chances of landing the role and the ex-Aberdeen chief has made it clear that he would be very interested in taking charge.

It's hard to say whether he is a leading contender, but there's no denying that he will be in the frame. Along with the fact that he is available to take over immediately, McInnes does have a decent reputation after the work he did with at Pittodrie.

He managed to have the Dons pushing for Europe and reaching cup finals, whilst his connection with Albion from his playing days won't do him any harm either.

That's not to say he would be a popular appointment, as McInnes struggled with Bristol City in the past and there are bigger names out there.

However, he's sure to be under consideration as West Brom look to finally make the crucial appointment that's desperately needed as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
