Charlie Wyke has been dominating back pages for several weeks now.

The Sunderland striker enjoyed a wonderful campaign in which he scored 31 goals for the club and played a major role in helping the Black Cats to the play-off semi-finals where they ultimately fell short against Lincoln City over two legs.

The 28-year-old was a big player this term but with his contract coming to an end in the coming weeks it means that the player has a big decision to make over his future.

Interest has been building around Wyke with Sky Sports' Keith Downie reporting that Middlesbrough, Cardiff City, Millwall and Nottingham Forest were all keen on a move for the player.

However fresh reports have suggested that a move to Scotland could now be the preferred option.

The Northern Echo have reported that Celtic are 'increasingly confident' of striking a deal to sign the striker.

The Bhoys are said to have made an offer for the player, however Wyke's current club Sunderland are willing to match the terms offered by the Scottish giants.

Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest and Millwall have also held talks with the player, however it seems that a move to Scotland now appears to be the most appealing option on offer for the 28-year-old.

With Celtic keen to bolster their attacking options this summer it seems that Wyke is a cut-price solution to their problems and could be tempted by the lure of challenging for silverware and competing in continental competitions next term.

A decision is yet to be made by Wyke, but the coming days and weeks will no doubt see his future decided one way or the other.
