Burnley have been heavily linked with making a move for Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare.

The Clarets are looking to add some creativity to Vincent Kompany’s options in the centre of the pitch, with O’Hare identified as an ideal candidate for the role.

The two clubs are negotiating a deal for the 24-year old to join Burnley, but the Sky Blues are remaining firm in their stance on the player.

It has been reported that the Championship side has a £6 million valuation of O’Hare.

Burnley were in advanced talks with Coventry as the two clubs discussed a fee, but no agreement has yet been reached.

Kompany’s side have already had a number of bids rejected, but their interest is serious enough to not be deterred.

Coventry will hold firm on their asking price for the midfielder as they look to cash-in on an impressive campaign in Mark Robins’ team.

The signing of O’Hare would make him the eighth addition to Kompany’s side this summer if the two clubs can come to an agreement over a fee.

Josh Cullen and Samuel Bastien have also been signed for the team’s midfield, with the defence and attack also having been strengthened.

Kompany took over the role of permanent manager this summer having replaced Sean Dyche, who was dismissed after 10 years in charge of the club last April.

Burnley suffered relegation to the Championship in the aftermath of Dyche’s departure, ending their six year tenure in the Premier League.

The Belgian will be hoping he can bring the club straight back up to the top flight at the first attempt in what is only his second role in management.

Kompany has also previously managed Anderlecht, where he also worked alongside Cullen.

Burnley have also sold the likes of Nick Pope and Nathan Collins in what has been a big summer of transfer activity.
