Cardiff City will be looking to build upon their recent 1-0 victory over Norwich City when they head to the Select Car Leasing Stadium this weekend to face Reading.

Romaine Sawyers netted what turned out to be the winning goal in this aforementioned fixture in the second-half as both sides were reduced to ten men.

Despite the fact that manager Steve Morison has secured the services of a host of fresh faces in the current transfer window, the Bluebirds are still being linked with moves for players.

One of the individuals who has emerged as a potential target for Cardiff is Andy Carroll.

Here, we have decided to take a look at the latest news regarding Carroll's situation amid interest from the Bluebirds...

According to BBC Radio Wales pundit Nathan Blake, Cardiff are keen on making a move for Carroll.

Blake has suggested that the Bluebirds could potentially sign the former West Bromwich Albion man on a pay as you play deal.

As per Wales Online, sources close to Carroll have cast doubt on the forward sealing a switch to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Although the Bluebirds are believed to be on the lookout for a new striker, chairman Mehmet Dalman revealed last week that they were in talks to spend a fee on an individual who is able to play in this particular position.

Carroll doesn't fit this particular description as he is currently a free-agent following his departure from The Hawthorns.

On the lookout for a new club, the 33-year-old managed to score a combined total of five goals in the Championship last season for West Brom and Reading.

Instead of making a move for Carroll, Cardiff could potentially bolster their attacking options by swooping for Kion Etete.

According to Wales Online, the Bluebirds are hoping to sign Etete on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Following a loan spell at Northampton Town, Etete joined Cheltenham Town on a temporary deal earlier this year and went on to provide six direct goal contributions in League One.
