It's been one of the most public, ongoing debacles in the whole of English football right now and that is the current takeover situation with Derby County.

Having been placed into administration and docked points this year, the club have been lingering in the relegation zone throughout the year and look like they could be headed for League One.

The club have also had to let go of some important players - on the cheap too - and there has already been plenty of false hope in terms of potential owners and takeover deals to try and bring the club back to normality. Throw in the ongoing issues with Wycombe and Middlesbrough and it has been a nightmare year for the Rams.

So, with everything that is going on, what is the latest news on the Derby County takeover situation?

The latest update comes from the fans of the club themselves actually, with fan group Black & White Together revealing a fresh bit of news in terms of a potential takeover. The fan group have been in contact with the club's administrators - and remain so throughout the process - allowing for the Rams supporters to get a clear view of what is going on.

They claim that there could be a new owner on the horizon, with two bidders interested in becoming owners of the club and helping sort out the ongoing predicament. That is good news for supporters but the issue is that both parties want to wait until the current situation involving Middlesbrough and Wycombe is resolved.

That situation in itself could drag on and that could therefore prolong the time it takes for a potential new owner to step in and save the club. The problem with both Middlesbrough and Wycombe is that the clubs believe that by 'systematically cheating' in terms of their spending and financial use, it has cost the former a spot in the play-offs and the latter a spot in the second tier.

The good news though is that once the issues with the two EFL clubs are sorted out, they believe that a deal can be done quickly in terms of choosing which bidder to go with and implementing an 'exit proposal.' Once these problems are sorted then, it means that Derby could finally have a new bidder and a potential new owner being put in place - if they pass the EFL owner and director test of course.

It means that the fans will be desperate to sort out this battle between themselves and Middlesbrough and Wycombe, especially with the lure of a potential saviour to the club via one of these two bidders emerging once these issues are dealt with.
