Swansea City’s season was a fairly average one after finishing the league in 15th in what was a significant fall from last season’s success.

However, Russell Martin will be keen not to focus on the season that’s just been and rather will want to look to the future.

To succeed next season, Swansea will have to start by making sure they make the necessary additions to their squad.

Here we take a look at the latest news coming out of Swansea.

Cyrus Christie

Christie joined the Swans on loan in January and did well in 22 appearances for the side and with his contract up at parent club Fulham this summer, a move to Swansea would seem natural.

However, the defender admitted that although he is eager to return to Wales, City are yet to offer him a deal.

Martin has previously admitted that the club may not be able to match his wage expectations, but they would be better to offer him a contract sooner and then try and work it out rather than waiting in case someone else came in for the player.

Joel Piroe

The future of the forward has been in doubt for a while now after his brilliant season for the Swans.

In 44 appearances, Piroe scored 22 goals and assisted six times meaning the club could face a fight to keep their player this summer.

Furthermore, Martin recently revealed that Piroe’s representatives were not willing to have conversations regarding a new contract with his currently running until 2024.

Whether he will depart this summer is yet to be seen but as it stands, it doesn’t look as though his time in Wales will be a long term one.

Remy Mitchell

According to Football Insider, Mitchell looks to be joining Swansea this summer as his contract at current club Arsenal expires.

Although the young goalkeeper hasn’t made any senior appearances, Swansea are keen to get a deal done with the player who has impressed at youth level.

Furthermore, he will now be looking for an opportunity to break through to a first team and get regular football.

James McAtee

According to journalist Alan Nixon, the young Manchester City midfielder is free to leave his parent club this summer and the Swans are interested in gaining his services.

The 19-year-old is good with the ball and therefore could fit well into the Swansea side as he will have the freedom and ability to spend time on the ball.
