It is a very important summer ahead for Blackburn Rovers.

Still on the search for a new manager, the club must first get the man they want in the dugout before looking to the transfer market to make some much needed improvements to their squad.

The club had looked strong in the first half of 2021/22, but fell away quite dramatically this calendar year, eventually missing out on a place in the Championship play-offs.

The club will be hoping that their summer business ensures that does not happen again.

With that being said, here is all the latest news and transfer rumours coming out of Ewood Park at present.

Backroom shake-up

Blackburn Rovers announced that assistant manager Mark Venus would leave his position yesterday.

Venus spent five years at Ewood Park as Tony Mowbray's long-time assistant, but will now depart the club this summer.

Elsewhere in the backroom staff, first-team coach David Lowe, goalkeeping coach Ben Benson, and first-team technical coach Damien Johnson could remain at the club and form part of the next boss' backroom, as per the Lancashire Telegraph.

Gareth Ainsworth

Despite being linked with the Ewood Park managerial vacancy, it has been reported that Gareth Ainsworth is not in the running for the current Blackburn Rovers job.

As per the Lancashire Telegraph, the 49-year-old is not thought to be on the list of candidates that the club have drawn up.

The Wycombe boss is, however, reportedly on the radar of Queens Park Rangers as they search for their new boss.

Ryan Nyambe update

With negotiations ongoing between the club and Ryan Nyambe, it has been reported that Nyambe's future could be key to Blackburn's recruitment plan this summer.

If Nyambe is to leave, one option that has been mentioned as somebody that Rovers could go in for is Barnsley's Callum Brittain.

Brittain has one, and possibly two years left on his contract at Oakwell, although their relegation to League One could possibly work in Blackburn's favour should the player have the desire to remain in the second-tier.

Perhaps one to watch this summer.

Another Chile call up for Brereton Diaz

Last but not least, Blackburn Rovers yesterday confirmed that forward Ben Brereton Diaz has been once again named in the Chile national squad ahead of their fixtures this summer.

Chile will play Korea Republic, Tunisia and then either Japan or Ghana in Asia this summer.

Diaz will no doubt be hoping to add to his tally of four goals in 13 appearances for his national side so far.
