It has been a frustrating start to the season for Derby County and young midfielder Louie Sibley.

Sibley caught the eye for the Rams towards the end of last season, scoring five goals and registering two assists in 11 league appearances including a hat-trick away at Millwall.

Sibley was undoubtedly one of Derby's standout performers as they narrowly missed out on a play-off finish, and Leeds United were linked with his signature in the summer.

Quiz: Did these 17 Derby County players ever actually score a league goal for the club?

This season has been a disappointing one for Derby thus far, though, with the Rams sitting bottom of the Championship table having won only one of their opening 11 league games.

The Rams have struggled to find the net having scored only five league goals thus far, with creative midfielder Sibley struggling to impress.

The 19-year-old has made only two league starts this season, and in a total of seven Championship appearances, he is yet to find the net or register a single assist.

Phillip Cocu has set his side up in a 3-4-3 formation for large parts of this season, meaning that there is no number 10 role for Sibley to start in.

Instead, Derby focus on their attacking player through their wide options. Sibley isn't a natural wide player, hence he has struggled to make an impact.

It remains to be seen what lies in store for Phillip Cocu, with the pressure piling on the Dutchman and his future currently up in the air.

Sibley is one for the future, though, having signed a new deal at Pride Park until 2024 last season. He is still young, and will get better as time goes on,
