What is the current situation with Jed Wallace at Millwall as January transfer window looms?

Jed Wallace has been as influential as he has been in recent years during the early part of this season, and with January nearing, it remains to be seen what will happen with his future in London.

Football League World exclusively learned in September that it was becoming increasingly difficult for Millwall to tie Wallace down to a new deal at The Den.

According to the same Football League World report, Brentford, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Ham United all expressed an interest in the 27-year-old back in September, with Celtic and Rangers also interested.

The same report also stated that West Brom were providing some divisional competition for the Millwall playmaker.

Quiz: Have each of these 24 ex-Millwall academy players ever played in the Premier League?

1) Has Marvin Elliott ever played in the Premier League?

Not allowing his undetermined future to impact on his performances, Wallace has chipped in with nine goal contributions in his first 13 games this season, proving to be the talismanic figure he has been at The Den over the last few years.

There has not been much fresh interest in the winger with January fast approaching, but as the window nears, it will be no shock to see Wallace presented with several options.

It remains to be seen if the clubs who have previously expressed their desire to sign the 27-year-old remain interest parties.

Wallace is deserving of a Premier League move, as he is constantly thrived at Championship level for a while now, with his technical ability, intelligence and energy likely to bolster the majority of top tier team’s attacking options.

Of course, Wallace could put pen-to-paper on a new deal with Millwall, especially with The Lions knocking on the door of the Championship play-offs.

The 27-year-old will be a difficult player to replace, given how many goals he has contributed during his time with The Lions, and they would require existing members of the squad to step up to the plate, whilst using the market efficiently to add additional quality.

It is difficult to determine whether the quiet nature of this situation is a good thing for The Lions, or if this is the calm before the storm, where one sides’ interest could cause a domino effect.
