Sheffield Wednesday cleared the decks over the summer, with Garry Monk moving on a number of players that had been a big hit at Hillsborough.

Carlos Carvalhal’s tenure is still fondly remembered in the Steel City, but slowly the side he assembled at Hillsborough is moving on.

In the summer, it was the turn of Sam Hutchinson to depart.

Sheffield Wednesday quiz: Are these 10 facts about Hillsborough true or false?

The tenacious midfielder had made 154 appearances for Wednesday, scored six goals, was cautioned 56 times and sent off on five separate occasions. Injuries plagued his time in South Yorkshire, but he was still a huge hit with the fans.

However, it was time to say goodbye at the end of 2019/20, with the 31-year-old moving onto a new challenge.

That fresh opportunity has seen the midfielder move to Cypriot side, Pafos.

The midfielder has made three appearances for Pafos and has carried over some familiar traits with him, which the Wednesday faithful were more than accustom to over his 150+ appearances.

Of course, we mean Hutchinson’s tendency to get ‘stuck in’ and make himself familiar with the officials.

Two yellow cards and one red card is his record in three appearances, with the former Owl not changing the habit of a lifetime despite a new lease of life with Pafos.

Interestingly the red card came in the 51st minute of Pafos’ win against APOEL, who brought another former Wednesday player, Atdhe Nuhiu, off the bench.

Like Hutchinson, Nuhiu left Hillsborough in the summer as Monk looked to freshen things up.
