Angel Rangel's time with QPR came to a frustrating end, as the experienced full-back suffered a ruptured Achilles in their match against Luton Town back in July.

The Spaniard spent two seasons with the Hoops, and he would have been hugely frustrated to have had his hopes of a new deal with the club dashed after this injury blow.

Rangel made 21 appearances for QPR last season, as they finished 13th in the Championship table under the management of Mark Warburton.

But QPR have previously revealed that Rangel is going through his rehab with QPR, which could hint that he has a future with the Hoops.

Speaking in an interview with QPR's official website, Rangel issued a promising update on his recovery from the injury lay-off.

"It’s going very well. The only thing is that it’s a very slow process. It’s been 11 weeks and I can’t walk properly yet.

"Unfortunately it’s one of those bad injuries in football, my Achilles has ruptured completely."

Rangel went on to reveal that QPR boss Mark Warburton is still in regular contact with him over his progress, which the defender was pleased about.

"Even the manager is calling me regularly to see how I am. We see each other every day. The manager is also injured.

"He had an operation on his knee so we have a bit of banter between us to see who recovers quicker!"

Rangel's most recent update on Instagram on his recovery was ten weeks ago, but he was clearly in high spirits whilst he looks to return to action at the earliest of opportunities.

The defender has shown that he can perform to a high standard, having played for both the Hoops and Swansea City in the second-tier, and he'll be hoping he can find a new club when he is deemed fit enough to return to training.
