‘What I would do to meet him’ – Millwall fans react to new training ground friendship

Millwall boss Neil Harris pulled off one of the most sensational moves of transfer deadline day, after securing the signing of former forward Tim Cahill on a deal until the end of the season.

The Australian international had been without a club since leaving Melbourne City last year, and Harris made the decision to pick the 38-year-old up on a free transfer ahead of the Lions push for a top half Championship finish.

Cahill is a cult figure at The Den having led the south Londoners to an unlikely FA Cup final appearance against Manchester United, and returns to the side where he began his senior career in 1998.

With a World Cup in Russia on the horizon, Cahill will know that a solid run of form will see him into the Socceroos starting lineup, with the former Everton man the record scorer for the Australasian side with 50 goals in 104 appearances.

The player enjoyed training with his teammates for the first time yesterday, with the club sharing photos on Twitter of the experienced forward embracing academy graduate, Ben Thompson.
