Sheffield United have started their Premier League preparations by targeting the permanent signing of Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Henderson has spent the season on loan at the Bramall Lane outfit where he played a significant role in helping Chris Wilder's side achieve automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has been ever-present for the Blades this season as he kept 21 clean sheets in his 46 appearances, with United boasting the joint-best defensive record in the division by only conceding 41 goals.

Henderson's impact at the club has led to speculation in the close-season that he could be about to make a permanent switch to Yorkshire from his parent club United.

Wilder has publicly admitted that he wants the goalkeeper back at the club this season, while Henderson himself has also expressed an interest in returning.

It is now just down to the two clubs to settle on terms for the deal to cross the line, and it appears that a development might have occurred following Henderson's latest Twitter update.

The cryptic post does not give much away, but plenty of Sheffield United fans believe it could be linked with his reportedly imminent permanent switch to the club.
