James Vaughan's future is certainly going to be a heavily debated topic heading towards the end of this year's league campaign amongst Bradford City supporters.

The striker made an impressive start to the 2019/20 season, and scored ten goals in total for the Bantams, as they looked to stay in touch with the promotion-chasing pack in League Two.

It was Bradford's first season back in the fourth tier, and the Valley Parade faithful would have been expectant of seeing their side make an immediate return back into League One at the first time of asking.

However, for one reason or another, this hasn't been the case. The Bantams have struggled for consistency for much of this year's campaign, much to the frustration of the club's supporters.

But one call that has certainly had an impact on their disappointing run of form since the turn of the New Year is their decision to move James Vaughan onto League One side Tranmere Rovers on loan for the remainder of the season.

This move came around the same time that Bradford City decided to cash-in on Eoin Doyle, who made his loan spell with high-flying Swindon Town a permanent move after a hugely impressive first-half of the campaign. Doyle has netted 26 goals for the Robins, but Bradford decided to let him move to the County Ground on a permanent basis, instead of coming back up to Bradford to play his part in their promotion bid.

With Vaughan also departing, it left the Bantams with a real lack of depth in attacking areas. They did sign Lee Novak late into the January transfer window, but the decision to allow Vaughan to leave the club, was certainly a bizarre one.

The 31-year-old netted ten goals for Bradford City in 25 league appearances, so there was certainly an element of surprise when the club sanctioned his temporary departure away from the club. He has since gone on to score three goals in eight appearances for Tranmere Rovers, as they battle to survive in League One this season.

A return to Bradford City could very much depend on which division they're playing their football in next season. You would imagine that Vaughan will be keen to play his football at a higher level than the fourth tier of English football. Therefore, if Bradford weren't to win promotion this season, then a permanent departure from Valley Parade would surely be on the cards for Vaughan.

It's set to be an interesting conclusion to this year's league campaign, with English football currently at a standstill due to recent events.
