Wolverhampton Wanderers eased relegation fears last night by staging a late comeback to defeat Brentford 2-1 at Griffin Park.

Maxime Colin’s strike for Brentford looked like the match-winner, until Matt Doherty and Helder Costa scored goals within the space of three-minutes to give Paul Lambert’s side a vital three-points in their fight for survival.

Tuesday’s victory was Wolves’ second in four days, as they backed up Saturday’s 1-0 win over Rotherham United, to move to 18th in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Lambert’s side are now four-points above the bottom-three, with ten fixtures of the Championship season remaining.

Before the international break, Wolves face high-flying Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, where they will be looking for a third consecutive victory.

As the season heads into April, Lambert’s side face massive games against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, back-to-back fixtures which could define Wolves’ season.
