Rotherham United have signed midfielder Ryan Manning on a season-long loan deal from Championship rivals QPR, the R's have confirmed.

The 22-year-old has grabbed the opportunity to play regular Championship football week in, week out.

Manning will be available to make his debut for the Millers in Saturday's away trip to Leeds United.

But was this a good move for QPR?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Absolutely not, no.

I cannot understand this. They say he’s not in the first team right now, but we’re two game sin and frankly, QPR have been poor.

They’ve let a strong performer and an exciting young talent go and furthermore, it is to a relegation rival!

Utter madness.

Jay Taylor

It’s a strange one.

Ryan Manning was a big part of the QPR side last season making 21 appearances, and this year he started the opening day defeat to Preston and the League Cup win over Peterborough.

The midfielder looked to be a big part of the Hoops’ side, and being loaned to a divisional rival is odd.

Not least because you would imagine QPR will in and around Rotherham battling for survival this season.

Sam Rourke

What are they playing at?

In my opinion, Manning should be starting for the R's week in, week out and I just don't get why you'd offload him.

The fact that they have offloaded him to a relegation rival in the form of Rotherham, makes this all the more baffling.

George Dagless

Bonkers.

Some don't think he is good enough and McClaren doesn't yet clearly but I think the R's need the numbers.

He does have plenty to offer in my eyes and even if the club doesn't think he is ready - why send him to a club you could be battling at the bottom? That's the baffling thing most of all regardless of if he is good enough.

It's a risk.
