Reading FC have endured a tough few seasons in the Championship in recent years, but the club are seemingly heading in the right direction this term.

The Royals are currently sat sixth in the Championship table, and are four points adrift of league-leaders Norwich City after their opening 13 matches of the season.

We take a look at Reading's EIGHT (according to Transfermarkt) most expensive signings, and see what they're up to these days!

Find out who kicks us off at number eight on the list, on the next page....

Adrian Mariappa is in at number eight on the list, when he moved to Reading from Watford ahead of the 2012/13 season for a fee of £3.42million.

The Jamaican international went on to impress in the Premier League for the Berkshire-based side, and later earned a move to Crystal Palace for his strong performances.

Mariappa is now playing his football for fellow promotion-chasing rivals Bristol City, and will be hoping he can make a positive impact with the Robins.

Baldock has made 58 appearances for Reading since signing from Brighton and Hove Albion for a fee of £3.51million ahead of the 2018/19 season.

His time at the Madejski Stadium has been a frustrating one in recent seasons though, with the forward struggling for consistent game time in Veljko Paunovic's side.

Baldock is behind both Lucas Joao and George Puscas in the pecking order at the moment, and it wouldn't come as a surprise to see him leave the club within the next year.

Ejaria made his loan move a permanent one to Reading from Liverpool in the summer of 2020 for a fee in the region of £3.51million.

The midfielder caught the eye with a number of impressive displays last season for Reading, and fan's were delighted to see his permanent move be confirmed by the club.

He has made 63 appearances in total for the Royals this term, and has been heavily relied upon to provide the creative spark in the absence of the injured John Swift.

Ilori signed for Reading from Liverpool in the 2016/17 season for a fee of £3.87million.

The central defender went on to make 64 appearances for the club, before leaving for Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in 2019.

He is still with Sporting Lisbon, but hasn't been a regular in the first-team since moving to the club.

Halford arrived at Reading for a fee in the region of £4.05million from Colchester United.

The versatile defender went on to make a small number of appearances for the Berkshire-based side, before leaving the club in favour of a move to Sunderland.

Halford is currently a free-agent after his time with Scottish club Aberdeen reached a conclusion in 2019.

This deal went through for a reported fee of £4.86million according to Transfermarkt.

Joao had an injury-hit season last term, but has certainly made up for lost time in this year's campaign under the management of Veljko Paunovic.

The Portuguese forward has hit 11 goals already this season, and will be key to Reading's chances of promotion into the Premier League.

This might be one of the most frustrating signings that Reading have made in recent years.

Aluko arrived from Fulham for a fee of £6.75million, and there were high hopes that he could replicate the type of form that saw him cause all sorts of problems for opposition full-backs.

But that hasn't been the case, with Aluko rarely featuring for the Royals in recent seasons, although he has scored once this term, in a 4-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth not so long ago.

George Puscas is Reading's record signing for a fee of £6.75million according to Transfermarkt.

It is believed that he's higher on the list ahead of Aluko due to various potential add-ons to the original price.

The Romanian forward has made 51 appearances in total for the Royals, but has struggled for consistent game time this term, with Lucas Joao often occupying the starting striker role for Reading, as they look to challenge for promotion.
