Luton Town will be hoping they can build on some impressive performances under the management of Nathan Jones this term in the Championship.

The Hatters are currently sat ninth in the second-tier standings, and will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they take on Cardiff City this weekend.

We take a look at the TOP-EIGHT of Luton Town's most expensive signings in their history and what they're up to these days.

Find out who kicks us off at number eight, below....

Mark Ovendale

Ovendale kicks off the list at number eight, when he signed from Bournemouth for a fee of £462,000.

Ovendale was dislodged as Luton's first-choice goalkeeper after their relegation though, as the signing of Carl Emberson saw him replaced between the posts.

The former Hatters goalkeeper tragically passed away in August 2011 from cancer at the age of 37.

Phil Gray

Phil Gray is seventh on the list, when he arrived at Luton for his first spell with the club in August 1991 for a fee of £540,000.

He had previously been on the books with Tottenham Hotspur, and also had loan spells with the likes of Barnsley and Fulham before moving to the Hatters.

Gray's most recent spell in football was with non-league side Stotfold F.C, but retired after his spell with the club reached a conclusion.

Ian Feuer

Feuer is in at number six, when he signed for the club in the 1995/96 season from West Ham United for a fee of £585,000.

The American went on to be a regular for Luton over his three years with the club before joining New England Revolution.

Feuer went on to manage the American national side for one match, and has also been an assistant coach with LA Galaxy, where he spent six years with the club up until 2013.

Sam Parkin

The Chelsea youngster had caught the eye with a number of impressive performances with Ipswich Town and Swindon Town, and moved to Luton in the summer of 2006 for a fee of £675,000.

He struggled to replicate that form with the Hatters though, and left the club to ease the financial situation in the summer of 2009.

Parkin finished his playing career with Exeter City in 2014, and has managed the Scotland B team once, and is a pundit for Chelsea TV, as well as working closely with his former club, Swindon Town.

Steve Davis

Davis arrived from Burnley in 1995 after they were relegated, and went on to captain Luton Town.

He signed for the club for a fee of £801,000, and is a player that will be remembered fondly for his services with the club. Davis had two spells in temporary charge of Burnley later down the line.

Davis was also dismissed from his role as Owen Coyle's backroom staff whilst at Bolton Wanderers.

Phil Gray

Gray has his name on the list for the second time, when he completed a move to Luton for a second spell with the Hatters in September 1997 for a fee of £810,000.

The Northern Irishman had been with Dutch side Fortuna Sittard before the move, and stuck with the club until 2000.

Gray's most recent spell in football was with non-league side Stotfold F.C, but retired after his spell with the club reached a conclusion.

Adam Boyd

Boyd signed for Luton ahead of the 2006/07 season, but struggled to replicate the form he had shown with Hartlepool United.

The forward later moved to Leyton Orient on a free transfer, despite signing for a fee in the region £1.35million.

Boyd's last spell in football was in the 2013/14 season, when he played for Bishop Auckland.

Simon Sluga

Sluga is Luton's record signing, as he arrived for a fee of £1.53million from Croatian side HNK Rijeka in the summer of 2019.

The shot-stopper has gone on to establish himself as Luton's first choice goalkeeper between the posts, and has made 13 appearances in all competitions for the Hatters this term.
