Leeds United fans never seemed all that keen on Pierre-Michel Lasogga last season.
He arrived on loan from Germany but failed to set the Championship alight despite the huge expectation.
The 26-year old scored 10 times in 33 outings in all competitions, but returned to Hamburg at the conclusion of his loan spell, nothing more than another name in the long list of broken promises under Christiansen and Heckingbottom.
He’s already bagged 11 in 14 matches in the Bundesliga 2 for his side, including seven in three matches through August and September. That form has prompted one Twitter user to look again and suggest that perhaps a Bielsa-fit Lasogga would be much more effective.
It’s drawn a mixed response from the fans who have entered the debate. Some feel Lasogga was a natural finisher, someone who could have thrived from additional fitness, others have accused him of simply being lazy.
One, rather amusingly, called him as ‘mobile as a dockyard crane’. It certainly makes for interesting reading, with the best of responses below.
What do you think?
I know people will disagree but I’m going to put it out there anyway. With the football we play ( ball to feet ) a Bielsa fit Pierre-Michel Lasogga would have been sensational for us this season. Best finisher we’ve had for some time – we’d be storming this league imo. #lufc

Natural goal scorer

Always said same about Lasogga, a cracking player, get the ball to his feet or head somewhere near the box and there was a shot on target coming from him. People expected him to run back and defend. Barmy. What an opportunity we wasted there.

Would prefer to have kept Chris Wood

Too lazy for MB style , . Finishing ain’t the issue.

His fitness always let him down

But he needs the ball in the box. He’d still be waiting 14 years for one decent delivery from Dallas and Alioski.

True, Roofe’s record is good this season, service is the problem. Would’ve been interesting to see how much of a pay cut Lasogga would’ve been willing to take to join.

Might be valid if it was our centre forward missing loads of chances but it isn't. Also lassogga is as mobile as a dockyard crane.
