Tonight, one of football's fiercest derbies takes place, with Southampton the visitors to Portsmouth's Fratton Park in the Carabao Cup Third Round.

Portsmouth are currently sat in 20th place in the EFL League One, while Southampton are 13th in the Premier League. Portsmouth have failed to win in their last five games so come into this tie with their form looking to change, while Southampton have won two out of their last five league games.

The last time these two sides faced off was at St Mary's back in the Championship on 7th April 2012. The game ended in a 2-2 draw, as Southampton were fighting for promotion and Portsmouth were meanwhile fighting to stay up and keep their heads afloat.

Billy Sharp poked in from close range to give the Saints the lead, while Chris Maguire netted a stunning goal to equalise from the edge of the area. Sharp then scored again late on to put Southampton back ahead, a goal which was initially ruled out for offside, before David Norris sent the away supporters into bedlam by netting deep into injury time and securing a vital point for Portsmouth, with only a month left of the season to go.

Tonight's game has been a long time coming, and it all comes down to the 90 minutes on that pitch at Fratton Park...
