Football ebbs and flows with positive and negative influences when you least expect it.

There has been plenty of ups and downs for every football team up and down the land, both on and off the pitch.

When you think about it, the club’s at Championship level tend to have more mediocre memories and times they wish they could forget.

Many a fan of a Championship club lives by the creed that you expect the worst and hope for the best when it comes to kick-off on a Saturday afternoon.

Last season was an extreme high for a club like Millwall, finishing eighth after promotion from League One and narrowly missing out on a place in the play-offs.

This season, however, has seen Neil Harris’ men lose three consecutive games after beating Derby County at The Den.

Influential midfielder George Savile has since left, heading to Middlesbrough, so the club's fans could be forgiven for thinking this season could be one that could end up being a shock to the system.

With that said, we asked our writers at FLW what they thought was Millwall’s most shocking moment in the last three years.

We discuss…

George Dagless

Probably at the end of the play-off final where some fans got onto the pitch, and Steve Morison had a real go at them.

It was a fantastic day for the Lions, but that handful of fans did sour things a bit and Morison wasn't pleased.

Gary Hutchinson

In a good way, the promotion push last season. Did anyone really expect that?

Little old Millwall, they of little resources and spirited fight?

No, but that was exactly what happened and many in the Championship were left shocked.

Alfie Burns

It's actually been a good couple of years for Millwall, but I'm going to say it was pretty shocking watching them sell George Saville to Middlesbrough.

The deal might've involved a lot of money, but what ambition did it show after a superb 2017/18 campaign? They should've been building not selling one of their best players.

It shocked me to see Harris back the transfer. I thought he'd be fuming.
