Sunderland had a very busy January transfer window, with the club conducting a lot of notable business during the month.

In terms of outgoings, the major talking point was the departure of Josh Maja, with the striker leaving the Wearside club for Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.

The 20-year-old had enjoyed a superb campaign for Jack Ross' side, scoring 15 league goals in 25 games.

However, with his contract running down and the player reluctant to sign, Sunderland were forced to sell, with the French side paying up to £3.5m for the youngster.

Even though it was a decent deal for the Black Cats, Maja's exit frustrated supporters who felt he was moving for the wrong reasons.

Many thought playing regularly at the Stadium of Light would be more beneficial than sitting on the bench elsewhere.

And, it appears those fears were justified, with the Chronicle revealing that Maja has not even made the matchday squad for Bordeaux's game against Marseille tonight.

As you can imagine, Sunderland fans weren't too sympathetic and here's how some reacted on twitter...
