Birmingham City announced on Thursday that defender Cheick Keita had joined Belgian side KAS Eupen on a season-long loan. 

The 22-year-old spent the entirety of last season out on loan at Italian side Bologna as well but got very little game time.

Keita joined Birmingham from Italian side Virtus Entella in the January transfer window of 2017 when Gianfranco Zola was in charge.

After Zola left Harry Redknapp brought in Cohen Bramble on loan from Arsenal pushing Keita even further down the pecking order.

Fans of the Blues were looking forward to seeing what the left-back could do this season, hoping he may finally get a shot in the first team.

But Garry Monk's decision to send him out on loan again has not gone down well with the St. Andrews faithful, with many calling for him to be played as a left winger for the team rather than a defender.
