Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that defender Steven Caulker has left the club by mutual consent.

The 26-year-old joined the R’s in 2014 from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee, but made just fifty appearances for Ian Holloway’s side during a two-and-a-half year stint in West London.

Injuries and personal issues affected the one-time England man during his time at the club, with Caulker also being sent out on loan to the Premier League twice.

Shorts spells with Southampton and Liverpool failed to yield results however, with both clubs refusing to make the deal permanent after the defender appeared just three times in the league for each club.

Caulker is now a free agent, and is free to sign with a new club in the new year when the registration window for new players opens.

The Tottenham academy graduate will have no shortage of offers from clubs across the British game, and could even return to the Premier League if the right deal were to materialise.

Fams took to Twitter to have their say on the player’s departure…
