Stoke City have had a bitterly disappointing first half of the 2018/19 season with the Potters slumped in the bottom half of the table with 26 matches played. 

During pre-season, they were heavily tipped to not only win promotion at the first time of asking but to also go up as Champions after an impressive summer transfer window.

On Tuesday, however, the board lost patience with manager Gary Rowett, who had failed to produce consistent performances to the standard expected of the squad at his disposal, sacking him eight months into his spell at the club.

It was an action that the Potters' fans had been calling for after growing tired of watching the turgid football produced by Rowett.

But it was news that was also music to the ears of many Derby County fans after he had left Pride Park in the summer to move to Stoke.

With the Rams currently sat eight points and eight places higher than Rowett's finishing spot, and with Frank Lampard impressing at the helm, their reactions were rather loud.
