Birmingham City extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to three matches courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.

Harry Redknapp’s men lost to Ipswich Town on the opening weekend before bouncing back with victories over Crawley Town in the Carabao Cup and then Bristol City in the league, but they couldn’t keep that winning streak going earlier this week.

Nonetheless, the Blues kept their unbeaten run going and picked up their first clean sheet of the campaign, so there were positives to take from Tuesday’s encounter ahead of their trip to Burton Albion on Friday night.

However, there aren’t too many positives for Redknapp and his team in the transfer window at present, with the Blues recently having suffered another blow as midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has failed to land a work permit ahead of his proposed move to St Andrew’s.

The 24-year-old Nigeria international currently plays his trade at Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, and has done so since last summer in which time he played 38 games and helped the club to a sixth place finish in the Super Lig.

Yet he won’t be moving to England after all after failing to gain a work permit, which is news that has stimulated quite the response from Birmingham supporters on Twitter.

And it’s fair to say that some are frustrated by the decision, while others have questioned their side in pursuing a move for Onazi, knowing that a work permit could be an issue…
