Sam Byram completed a move to the City Ground on a season-long loan from West Ham late on Friday evening.

Forest have been patient in their pursuit of the defender having had a vested interest in the former Leeds man all summer long.

Manager Aitor Karanka had wanted to sign the right-back on a permanent deal, but according to the Nottingham Post, a deal could not be struck before the 5pm deadline on Thursday evening.

But with the loan window remaining open for EFL clubs through to August 31, there was no panic to get the deal done before the deadline.

And with a day to finalise negotiations, the loan was confirmed late on Friday night.

Byram becomes Karanka’s 13th summer signing and will look to get regular first-team football after a frustrating time in the Premier League with the Hammers having during his two years at the London Stadium.

Having been the club’s primary right-back target all summer, the club have now managed to get the deal over the line.

That being said, here is how the Forest fans reacted on Twitter to the season-long loan signing of the 24-year-old.
