Young Aston Villa midfielder Callum O'Hare made a real statement of intent to reach the first team on Friday night as he bagged a hat-trick for the club's under-23s at Villa Park.

He was the stand-out star in an 8-0 thrashing of Bristol City in the first round of the Premier League cup and will have surely made the man replacing Steve Bruce sit up and take notice, whoever that may be.

The home side found themselves 2-0 up early on as Corey Blackett-Taylor and Jordan Cox both scored in the opening 20 minutes.

O'Hare then scored twice in quick succession himself to give the home side an emphatic 4-0 half-time lead.

They did not ease off during the second half either and found themselves 5-0 up with the young midfielder completing his hat-trick just after the hour mark.

Harvey Knibbs scored a late brace for Delaney's side and Dimitri Sea capped off the rout late on to secure a remarkable 8-0 win.

But it was O'Hare that got the fans' tongues wagging after the match as they piled praise onto him.

Here is how they reacted to his performance...
