West Bromwich Albion have made a bid to sign Rangers captain James Tavernier, with the Gers demanding at least £7m for his signature, reports TEAMTalk.

Would the 26-year-old full-back be a good signing for the Baggies? Would Rangers let him go?

We discuss....

Jay Williams

This is a really positive signing by West Brom and a statement of intent ahead of their promotion push.

They need a right-back and because they are likely to do a lot of attacking this season, they need someone like Tavernier to provide a threat down the flank.

At Championship level, Tavernier is a top signing for the Baggies.

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, absolutely. He's just the right age to come back to the English game and has the ability and experience to succeed.

He's played in front of big crowds at Ibrox, high-pressure situations and done extremely well. he's ripe for a return to the English game.

George Dagless

It's a very good move.

I'm surprised Rangers are willing to let him go because he's a good player and a key leader in the dressing room.

At the end of the day, though, West Brom have the money and so it looks a likely move.

Sam Rourke

What a signing this'd be.

Tavernier has proved to be one of the best defenders in the SPFL and I have no doubt he'd be able to excel in the second tier of English football.

This would be a coup for West Brom, but a real blow to Steven Gerrard's Rangers.
