Leeds United are monitoring Wigan attacking midfielder Nick Powell ahead of a potential move in the summer.

The 25-year-old is entering the final few months of his deal with the Latics and is expected to move on a free before the start of next season.

And, Football Insider claim that the Whites want to bring the ex-Manchester United man to Elland Road - regardless of what division they are in.

Powell was outstanding for Paul Cook's men last season as they secured promotion to the Championship and he has managed six goals and six assists in what has been an injury-hit campaign so far.

Despite that, few would argue that he is an extremely talented player and Marcelo Bielsa's side are on the lookout for a number ten after Samuel Saiz departed in January.

So, would Powell be a good signing for Leeds?

Here our writers take a look...

Jacob Potter

"I'm not sure he's the right fit for Leeds.

"If they win promotion this season, then he isn't going to be able to cut it in the Premier League in my opinion.

"There are better options out there for Leeds to fill the void left by Saiz."

Louie Chandler

"What a signing this would be.

"Arguably, Leeds have been crying out for someone to really make that number ten spot their own since Saiz departed.

"So who would be better than Powell to slot in there?"

Alfie Burns

"On a free, this could be a steal for Leeds.

"Powell is a good player and in a side like Leeds, he’d thrive.

"He’s got goals in him and is a creative influence. In many ways, he’s exactly what’s been missing at times this season."
